A manual for former losers

By Neslihan
She is your best friend. A true style icon. Perfection at its best, even with its flaws -how cliché this might sound. Her presence, her elegance truly have this impact on the crowd. Just standing in her aura makes you a better person. She's this glorified human being and you're a nobody. She's Regina George, you're Cady Heron. She's Pipi Langkous, you're Annika. She's Beyonce, you're  Michelle.

Thought this was funny and completely irrelevant at the same time.

We all have been through this, whether it was as a Beyonce or a Michelle. It doesn't often feel like someone (in this case Beyonce) is standing in your spotlight. This kind of friendships become something that can be best described as a c-r-u-s-h. It's not purely romantic, there is something platonic about it. The way she dresses or makes herself noted just always leave you in disbelief. How does she do it? Oh mighty queen, reveal your secret. Well, here comes the break-through, SHE HAS NO. Or maybe one -buckle your seatbelts for the biggest cliché in the world- confidence. It's predictible yet obvious. Your mind is connected to your fabulous body and the other way around. It's simple: you feel bad, you look bad. It's perfectly balanced interaction or it usually is.
First step: break your chains. I'm not talking about actual chains but I'm talking about leaving your 'Oh-you-almighty-goddes-cult'. As soon as you realize that she's just a human being who doesn't poop shiny rainbows, you'll see how ridiculous it actually was to be all over her shit (poop joke n°2, u guyz!). I think worshipping someone else than yourself or Florence Welch is a complete and tremendous waste of time. It's like someone else taking selfies with your phone. Hey loser, I don't want any other pictures than my own ones!!! You've got to fill up that vacuum with a lot of narcissism, almost acceptable cockiness.
Second step: wear what you want to wear. Don't be like: "Omg X has worn this already." Be like: "It would fit me better." Try things you've never dared trying before because it was taboo or an inaccessible area. Do wear pink on Fridays or jeans on Mondays and Tuesdays because you are making your own rules. Here comes the 'be your own Regina George' bullshit. Be fearless, be a kind bitch, which basically means your being radically quirky but nice to other people at the same time. Okay, yes kindness doesn't save the world, but nor does your sass.
Third step: another 'Cover Girl' motto- be true to who you are. Don't wear metalic trousers if you hate shine and shimmer. Don't dye your hair blond if you've always mocked blondes. Just don't turn into a completely other person. Because that's called schizophrenia and will be dealt with in another post.
Thanks for your reading.
And good luck, loser!

Late nights and smoldering cigarettes

So school has started and this means routines, tasks, tests and two huge projects to be ready until the end of this school year. And since I'm studying languages, both projects will be about literature. I've got a subject for Latin but English is giving me a hard time. My partner and I can't seem to decide which book to read. Lolita, To kill a mockingbird, The help, A clockwork orange, so many choices but not one that jumps out of the bunch. Maybe we should limit our choices. Anyway this post is starting to sound like one eternal nag session and that was not my intention. Writing this one to tell you I won't post that often since my keyboard is broken. (Thanks sis for spoiling water on it.) I made this random collage because I fet like it and because I liked how someone said that 'decay can be a beautiful thing'. Ain't that something to think about on this late Monday night? Let Cat Power accompany you.

Sleepless nights

By Neslihan
So, I'm heading a sleepless night and have all those questions in my head. Some people lose a sense of reality and start to live through their fantasies. They only dream and are afraid of the truth. They hide instead. They hide of the those who might be better or stronger than them. They wish but aren't strong enough to fulfil their own wishes. Too tired of disappointments, too tired of competition, too tired of abandonment. Too tired of everything. And I can see this as I'm still one of those optimistic teenagers. I'm not one of those youngsters who thinks she can change the world. Maybe I'm a tat too realistic for that but that doesn't mean I'm pessimistic about the future or my abilities. It's just that being a 24/7 idealist isn't realistic. And sometimes I wished that I didn't have to work for some things, that they'd just fall into my lap, you know. That I'd wake up one day and realise that I'm travelling for a living. That I'm discovering all those amazing cultures and having the most interesting talks with the locals. That I'm having lunch with Karl Lagerfeld or Frida Kahlo. And that I'm married to Joseph Gordon Levitt or Penn Badgley. You know stuff like that. Dreaming is for free and it's easy. People should do that once in awhile. It makes you happy too. Unless you're dreaming all the time and have lost touch with reality. You can't be in that decadent stage of laziness. You have to get out of your coach and undertake some action because I can't see myself sitting in front of my computer for the rest of my days. I'm not sure what I'm doing right now. Maybe this is a monologue intérieur or some kind of peptalk to myself. I don't know really. I think too much, which isn't a bad thing.

This song is one of the best things that happened to me. Lana Del Rey really is a magician. The lyrics are pure literature. How she discribes reality kind of makes your body float to some higher universe.

Pictures belong to ID's Spring 2012 idssue.
Photoshoot: "Being a princess ain't all it's  cracked up to be"
Model: Marte Mei van Haaster
In love with Jil Sander's paisley prints (second picture) and the Nike trainers. The colour is so sweet! Loved this photoshoot because it has that sporty feel to it. It's still so sensual and edgy. One of my favourite photoshoots of this issue. It's also the first issue I've ever bought.
