Innocense Lost

By Neslihan

I feel like Lana Del Rey always captures this suburban melancholia, a place between hopelessness and forgotten ambition. A place between dreaming and surviving. A place where the future doesn't excist, it's about the now and here and tomorrow's another story. It's the moment, it's an instance of youthful recklessness. It's about falling and messing up inexcusably because we're young. Because we know we can go wrong at 18 knowing we'll be conformist adults at 33. And that somehow is a sad yet comforting (?) thought.
It's like the 60's generation. They all did drugs and alcohol. They were rebellious and were almost against everything but at 40 they had a job, a house, kids, two dogs and a car. They turned into conformists and forgot about capitalism, feminism, the Vietnam war. And I think that's what Lana Del Rey tried to show us because no one's gonna take her soul away, she's living like Jim Morrison.
And I have created a couple of outfits to accompany that vibe. I tried to incorporate black in every outfit because that's just the chiquest colour to wear and because I hardly wear anything else. I also wanted gold, roses and underwear with screamy logos. I felt like staying close to the 90's vibe, hence Calvin Klein and that ying yang necklace. And deep burgundies were also absolutely necessary to create that extra dimension of drama.

Mrs Dalloway said she would buy the flowers herself

By Neslihan
It's a Sunday morning, soft breeze underneath your dress, chaos in your hair and a heavenly voice singing to you. It's the perfect scenario for a perfect summer day. The days are long, the nights are short and it feels as if your holiday is endless, as if you still have a lifetime to start and even to finish the things you want to do. Nothing feels forced and the sunshine makes everything lighter. Today was a lazy day? No problem, you still have tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, and the day after that. It's just the randomness of summer that appeals to me; as if you can meet new people on every corner of the street. Coffee dates at noon, picnick after 12, really bad movies at midnight. Oh, how I've missed the spare time to do those little nothings.
And even though the collage is rather stuffed it represents my mood effortlessly. I want my days to be  filled with caprisun, daisies in my hair and good books. I want soft fabrics because summer -more than any other season- is about caressing your skin with lace, silk and satin. I want to smell the rain on the hot city concrete. I want to feel the sun on my shaven legs. But above all, I want the summer. Could you stay for a while?

Confused girls do it better

By Neslihan
There is actually no clue or consistency in the collage I've created above. It was just a way to share one of the many enchanting Lana Del Rey pics featured in this month's L'Officiel Paris. In that photoshoot we see a furiously sexy Del Rey, who remains mysterious with every taken picture. The setting, the outfits, the make-up, the hair, everything was in balance and the whole story about a certain 'Rosalita' (impersonated by Lana) was just so credible. And even though I would like to go on and on about Lana's pictures this post was meant to be about something else.
Let's talk about confusion. Confusion is when you enter a twilight zone. Confusion is when you know the answer but your lips are too afraid to form the words. Confusion is screaming in your head while everything around you is quiet. Confusion is being in the moment but not daring to use your initiative. Love is confusion. Friendship is confusion. And confusion is either downfall, either enlightenment.

Scare me

By Neslihan
Watching horror movies is always such a dilemma. I mean to watch or not to watch because you see, I'm one of the biggest cowards when it comes to horror movies. I brag about the fact that I love scary movies, that I'm an addict when it comes to watching serial killers chase girls in white sleepwear. (such a clché) The thing is though, I cannot sleep for several nights after seeing such a movie. I become paranoid when I hear freaky sounds when I'm home alone and my brain starts to go in overdrive. Might it be Freddy Krueger of Leather Face? "You're just imagening things, Neslihan. It's only your mind", I tell myself. I try to focus on other things. "Think about bees and flowers, Neslihan. Think about pretty stuff", I advice myself. And of course the best part of all this is that I have to go to the toilet at night. My blatter becomes stressed but I try to ignore that fact. Hey you, I've just watched a horror movie. I'm so not going to the restroom, there's where the freakiest things happen. I press every switch I find to light up every room I pass by. I'm a hygienic person, you see? So I always wash my hands after this little visit. We have this huge mirror in front of the sink so I try not to look at myself when washing my hands, afraid of seeing misformed creatures in the mirror. (The Amityville Horror) I've got this vivid sense for fantasy, as you can read. It never stops me though from watching those films because it's such a rush. It's bigger than life, it's exciting, it breaks the monotony of an ordinary day and it's not exhausting. Relax, grab a scary movie and let the party begin.
